5 Signs Your Website Might Be Costing You Customers

Your website is often the first proper interaction someone has with your business - before they've spoken to you, seen your work in person, or read a single review. If it doesn't hold up, they simply move on to the next search result. Here are five common problems worth ruling out on your own site.

1. It's slow to load

Every extra second a page takes to load increases the chance a visitor leaves before it's even finished. Large, uncompressed images and bloated page builders are usually the biggest culprits. If your homepage takes more than two or three seconds to appear, it's worth investigating what's slowing it down.

2. It's not properly mobile-friendly

Most visitors will land on your site from a phone. If text is too small to read without zooming, buttons are hard to tap accurately, or menus don't work properly on a touchscreen, you're losing people before they've even seen what you offer.

3. There's no clear call to action

A visitor who's interested still needs to know exactly what to do next - call, book a consultation, request a quote. If that action isn't obvious within a few seconds of landing on a page, most people won't go looking for it themselves.

4. The design feels dated

Fairly or not, an outdated-looking website makes people question whether the business behind it is still active, still good at what it does, or still around at all. Design trends move fast, and a site that looked current five years ago can quietly undermine trust today.

5. There's no SEO foundation

A beautiful website nobody can find isn't doing its job. Missing page titles, no meta descriptions, and pages that never mention what you actually do or where you're based all make it harder for search engines - and customers - to find you in the first place.

If more than one or two of these sound familiar, it's likely costing you enquiries you don't even know you're missing. The fix isn't always a full rebuild - sometimes it's a handful of targeted changes.
